Catholic High School Students Explore Solar Energy and Clean Technology at Rezeca Renewables
Rezeca Renewables hosted a group of Year 4 International Baccalaureate (IB) students from Catholic High School at our Singapore headquarters at 37 Jalan Pemimpin as part of their End-of-Year Entrepreneur Capstone Project. The visit gave students first-hand exposure to Singapore's renewable energy industry — from solar panel technology to the business of building a sustainable company.
Singapore's Sustainability Landscape
The session opened with a briefing on Singapore's national sustainability goals and how clean energy adoption is accelerating across the country. With over 1,500 completed solar projects since 2009 across landed homes, schools, and commercial facilities, Rezeca shared real-world examples of how rooftop solar is contributing to Singapore's green transition.
How Solar Energy Works
Our NUS-graduate solar engineers walked the students through the fundamentals of photovoltaic technology — how solar panels convert sunlight into electricity, how grid-connected systems allow homeowners and businesses to offset their electricity consumption, and how surplus energy can be sold back to SP Group. Students asked detailed questions about system design, panel efficiency, roof types, and the regulatory approval process involving SP Group, SCDF, and BCA.
Electric Vehicle Charging and Clean Mobility
To broaden the discussion beyond solar, the team introduced EV charging solutions and how they integrate with smart grid systems. The students explored the connection between renewable energy generation and sustainable transportation — an increasingly important part of Singapore's decarbonisation roadmap.
Entrepreneurship in Clean Energy
The visit also covered the business side of sustainability. The Rezeca team shared what it takes to build and run a renewable energy company in Singapore — from navigating regulatory frameworks to scaling operations across more than 1,500 projects. Students were encouraged to think critically about the challenges and opportunities in the clean energy sector as they developed their own capstone business proposals.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Hosting students from Catholic High School reflects Rezeca's commitment to community engagement and sustainability education. As a Company of Good recognised by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) in 2025, Rezeca actively supports educational outreach programmes that introduce young Singaporeans to careers and innovation in renewable energy.
Bright minds, brighter future — we hope the visit sparked new ideas for the students' capstone projects and beyond.
