Rezeca Renewables installed an 11.31 kWp solar PV system on a metal-roof inter-terrace home at Pemimpin Place, Singapore, commissioned in 2024.
Metal roofs are one of the most solar-friendly roof types for terrace houses in Singapore. Unlike tile roofs that require bracket-and-rail mounting anchored through the tiles into the roof structure, metal roofs allow clamp-on mounting systems that grip directly onto the standing seams or ribs — with no drilling, no roof penetration, and no risk of leaks. This makes installation faster, preserves the roof warranty, and simplifies future panel removal if the roof ever needs recoating or replacement. As the aerial photograph shows, the panels sit in two clean arrays on the upper roof level, secured with non-penetrative clamps that leave the metal surface fully intact beneath.
A common question from terrace homeowners is whether metal roofs get too hot for solar panels. In practice, the opposite is true for system performance: the air gap between the panels and the metal surface creates natural ventilation that helps cool the panels from underneath, improving energy output in Singapore's tropical heat. Panels on well-ventilated metal roofs can produce 2–5% more electricity annually compared to panels flush-mounted on flat concrete surfaces where heat builds up with less airflow.
At 11.31 kWp, the system generates an estimated 14,100 kWh of solar electricity per year — enough to cover the majority of daytime consumption for a typical terrace household and export surplus to the grid under Singapore's grid sell-back scheme. With estimated annual savings of approximately S$4,500 and a payback period of 3–5 years, the system pays for itself quickly while the panels continue generating clean energy for 25+ years under manufacturer warranty.
For terrace homeowners weighing the decision, metal roofs require less structural assessment than older tile roofs, involve a simpler installation process, and are easier to maintain long-term — making them among the most straightforward residential solar projects Rezeca handles.
This project is one of over 1,000 residential solar installations completed by Rezeca Renewables across Singapore's landed estates since 2009 — including a neighbouring 18.53 kWp full-black terrace installation on the same street and a 10.88 kWp system at West Coast Green with a similar compact landed home layout.
