Rezeca Renewables installed a 22.46 kWp solar PV system on a Good Class Bungalow at Chee Hoon Avenue, part of the Capitol Park GCB area in District 11, Singapore. The system was commissioned in 2018 on what was then a newly completed home.
Modern GCBs in Singapore are increasingly designed with bold geometric rooflines, large skylights, and architectural features that prioritise natural light and visual impact. This creates a challenge for solar installation: how do you fit a productive system onto a roof that was designed primarily for aesthetics, not energy generation? At Chee Hoon Avenue, our engineers answered this by positioning panels in two separate arrays on the flat metal roof sections flanking a cluster of angular skylights — capturing strong solar exposure while leaving the home's distinctive rooftop profile completely unobstructed. The metal roof surface allowed non-penetrative clamp-on mounting, preserving both the waterproof integrity and the manufacturer warranty on a brand-new roof.
At 22.46 kWp, the system generates an estimated 28,100 kWh of solar electricity per year, offsetting a substantial share of the household's electricity consumption — including air conditioning, pool systems, and the energy demands of a large modern home. Surplus energy is exported to the grid under Singapore's grid sell-back scheme. Now in its eighth year of operation, the system has long since paid for itself and continues to generate free electricity for the homeowner.
For homeowners building a new GCB or planning a rebuild, this project highlights an important consideration: the best time to plan for solar is during the design phase, before the roof is finalised. When Rezeca is consulted early, our engineers can coordinate with the architect to ensure roof orientations, skylight placement, and structural loading all account for future solar — resulting in a cleaner installation, higher panel capacity, and lower overall cost compared to retrofitting after completion.
Rezeca has completed solar installations on GCBs across Singapore's most established enclaves, from Chee Hoon Avenue and nearby Leedon Park (40.05 kWp, tile roof) to Swettenham Road (29.60 kWp, metal roof), Garlick Avenue (60.3 kWp, metal roof), and Cluny Hill (89.25 kWp, metal roof).
This project is one of over 1,000 residential solar installations completed by Rezeca Renewables across Singapore's landed estates since 2009.
