How Much Can a Singapore Landed Home Save on Electricity with Solar?

Indicative solar savings by property type for Singapore landed homes: terrace, semi-detached, bungalow and GCB, with annual figures based on 2026 SP tariffs.

The quick version: A Singapore landed home typically saves from around S$4,000 a year for a terrace house up to S$20,000 or more a year for a Good Class Bungalow, depending on roof size and how much electricity you use in daylight. Savings come from two things: the grid electricity you no longer buy (about S$0.35 per kWh) and the surplus you export for a credit (about S$0.26 per kWh under the SCT scheme). Most landed systems pay back in roughly 4 to 7 years and keep saving for 25 years or more.

What drives your savings

Three things decide the number: how big a system your roof can take, how much of that generation you use yourself during the day, and the electricity tariff. In Q3 2026 the regulated SP tariff is about 34.78 cents per kWh including GST, so every unit of solar you use instead of buying saves roughly that. Surplus you do not use is exported and credited at around S$0.26 per kWh. Homes that run more in daylight, with home offices, pool pumps or EV charging, self-consume more and save faster.

Indicative savings by property type

The table below shows indicative system sizes and annual savings by property type, assuming about 70% daytime self-consumption, roughly S$0.26 per kWh for surplus exported under the Simplified Credit Treatment scheme, and an installed cost of S$1,200 to S$2,000 per kWp.

Property typeTypical systemEst. annual generationEst. yearly savings
Terrace house10 to 15 kWp~13,000 to 18,000 kWh~S$4,000 to S$6,000
Semi-detached15 to 30 kWp~19,000 to 37,000 kWh~S$6,000 to S$12,000
Bungalow20 to 40 kWp~25,000 to 50,000 kWh~S$8,000 to S$16,000
Good Class Bungalow40 to 90 kWp~50,000 to 110,000 kWh~S$16,000 to S$35,000

Figures are indicative estimates based on Singapore's 2026 SP tariff and the assumptions above, not a quotation. Actual savings depend on roof size and orientation, shading, and how much electricity you use during daylight. Rezeca provides a detailed, personalised ROI analysis with every free site assessment.

What real homes save

These ranges reflect what we see across our installations, from terraces trimming a few thousand dollars a year off the bill to Good Class Bungalows saving well into five figures a year on larger systems. You can browse real examples across our residential projects.

Savings do not stop at payback

Most landed-home systems pay back in about 4 to 7 years, and the larger, high-consumption homes often faster. After that, the electricity is effectively free for the rest of the system's 25 to 30-year warranty life, so the great majority of the savings come after the system has paid for itself. Our payback guide explains the maths.

Frequently asked questions

How much does solar save per month in Singapore?
Roughly S$350 to S$500 a month for a typical landed home, and well over S$1,000 a month for a large Good Class Bungalow, depending on system size and daytime usage.

What is the biggest factor in how much I save?
How much of your solar you use during daylight. The more you self-consume rather than export, the more each unit is worth, because retail electricity costs more than the export credit.

Do savings change with the tariff?
Yes. When SP tariffs rise, your solar savings rise too, because you are avoiding a higher grid price. Solar acts as a hedge against tariff increases.
