One of Singapore's earliest residential solar installations. 20.07 kWp on a tile-roof bungalow at Holland Grove Avenue, operating since 2014. Battery storage added 2023. Zero waterproofing issues.

Rezeca Renewables installed a 20.07 kWp solar PV system on a bungalow at Holland Grove Avenue, Singapore, commissioned in 2013 — making this one of the earliest residential solar installations in Singapore and one of the longest-running systems in Rezeca's portfolio.

In 2013, residential solar in Singapore was still in its infancy. There was no established track record for rooftop solar on landed homes, and homeowners had limited data on how panels would perform over time in Singapore's tropical climate — the heat, humidity, heavy rainfall, and UV exposure. Thirteen years later, this Holland Grove Avenue system is still generating electricity reliably, with zero waterproofing issues on the tile roof. The bracket-and-rail mounting system has held firm through more than a decade of monsoon seasons, and the panels continue to operate well within their expected degradation curve.

As the aerial photograph shows, panels are distributed across multiple pitched tile roof faces, arranged around a central courtyard opening that brings natural light into the home. The layout maximises usable roof area while preserving the open-air courtyard.

At 20.07 kWp, the system generates an estimated 25,100 kWh of solar electricity per year, with surplus exported to the grid under Singapore's grid sell-back scheme. The homeowner has saved an estimated S$8,000 annually since commissioning — totalling approximately S$104,000 in cumulative electricity savings over 13 years.

In 2023, the homeowner took the next step by adding a battery storage system to the existing solar installation — becoming one of Singapore's early residential adopters of solar-plus-battery. The battery stores excess daytime solar generation for use during evening hours when the panels are no longer producing, further reducing reliance on grid electricity after sunset. This kind of retrofit is increasingly viable as battery technology matures and costs decline. For homeowners with existing Rezeca solar systems, adding battery storage does not require replacing the inverter or panels — it integrates with the existing setup.

For anyone still weighing whether solar is a reliable long-term investment in Singapore, this Holland Grove Avenue project offers 13 years of real-world evidence. Rezeca has completed similar installations across the Holland area and nearby landed estates, including Leedon Park (40.05 kWp, tile roof) and Chee Hoon Avenue (22.46 kWp, metal roof).

This project is one of over 1,000 residential solar installations completed by Rezeca Renewables across Singapore's landed estates since 2009.
